Halloween o Noche de Brujas es una fiesta que se celebra principalmente en Estados Unidos en la noche del 31 de octubre. Tiene origen en la festividad celta del Samhain y la festividad cristiana del Día de todos los santos. En gran parte, es una celebración secular aunque algunos consideran que posee un trasfondo religioso. Los inmigrantes irlandeses transmitieron versiones de la tradición a América del Norte durante la Gran hambruna irlandesa de 1840.

La palabra Halloween (AFI /ˌhæl.əʊˈiːn/) es una derivación de la expresión inglesa All Hallows' Eve (Víspera de Todos los Santos). El día se asocia a menudo con los colores naranja y negro y está fuertemente ligado a símbolos como la Jack-o'-lantern.

Halloween (or Hallowe'en) is an annual holiday observed on October 31, which commonly includes activities such as trick-or-treating, attending costume parties, carving jack-o'-lanterns, bonfires, apple bobbing, visiting haunted attractions, playing pranks, telling scary stories, and watching horror films. Historian Nicholas Rogers, exploring the origins of Halloween, notes that while "some folklorists have detected its origins in the Roman feast of Pomona, the goddess of fruits and seeds, or in the festival of the dead called Parentalia, it is more typically linked to the Celtic festival of Samhain, whose original spelling was Samuin (pronounced sow-an or sow-in)".The name of the festival historically kept by the Gaels and celts in the British Isles which is derived from Old Irish and means roughly "summer's end".

Halloween est une fête folklorique anglo-saxonne, à laquelle certains prêtent une origine celtique, basée sur la concomitance calendaire du 1^er novembre, période de l'antique fête religieuse celtique de Samain. Cette tradition a été transportée en Amérique du Nord au XIX^e siècle par les Irlandais, les Écossais et autres immigrants. Le principal symbole d'Halloween est la citrouille issu de la légende irlandaise de Jack-o'-lantern : on la découpe pour y dessiner, en creux, un visage, puis on place une bougie en son centre.
