Ondatrópica 

Ondatrópica, concebido por el músico colombiano Mario Galeano, la fuerza detrás de la banda Frente Cumbiero, y productor inglés Will Holland, Ondatrópica reúne a un elenco de estrellas que representan tanto a los estilos clásicos como a los modernos de la música colombiana. 

En enero de 2012 durante 3 semanas en los famosos estudios de Discos Fuentes en Medellín figuras legendarias de la música colombiana se unieron a un grupo de jóvenes músicos colombianos. El plan, reinterpretar el patrimonio musical tropical de Colombia con nuevos enfoques en la composición, arreglos y producción en un ambiente clásico y mítico.


Ondatrópica, conceived by Colombian musician Mario Galeano, the force behind the band Frente Cumbiero, and English producer Will Holland, Ondatrópica brings together an all-star cast representing both the classic and modern styles of la musica Colombiana.

Over 3 weeks in January 2012 at the famous Discos Fuentes studios in Medellín legendary figures from Colombian music joined a group of younger Colombian musicians. The plan; to re-interpret the tropical musical heritage of Colombia with new approaches in composition, arrangement and production in a classic and mythical setting.

Boy Gé Mendes

Gerard Mendes, más conocido como Boy Gé Mendes es un cantante y músico de Cabo Verde. Nació en Dakar, Senegal y se crio en una comunidad de una ciudad de Cabo Verde. Cuando era niño, se crio en un hogar lleno de sonidos del morna nativa y coladeira. Pero él también fue expuesto a la música de su tierra de adopción y a la música de Malí, Guinea al oeste de otros países africanos. Su carrera incluye música antigua, incluso cantando rock, rhythm & blues y música cubana, que eran todos los géneros populares en Senegal en su momento. Mendes finalmente se estableció en Francia, donde se asoció con su hermano Jean-Claude, Manu Lima, y Luis Silva para formar el Cabo Verde Show, una de las bandas más populares de Cabo Verde de todos los tiempos.

Gerard Mendes (born 1952), better known as Boy Gé Mendes is a Cape Verdean musician. He was born in Dakar, Senegal and was raised in the city's Cape Verdean diaspora community. As a child, he grew up in a household filled with the sounds of the native morna and coladeira. But he was also exposed to the music of his adopted land and to the music of Mali, Guinea and other west African countries. His early music career even included singing rock, rhythm & blues, and Cuban music, which were all popular genres in Senegal at the time. Mendes eventually settled in France where he teamed up with his brother Jean-Claude, Manu Lima, and Luis Silva to form Cabo Verde Show, one of the most popular Cape Verdean bands of all time.

Mendes has travelled widely, which is reflected in his musical output. His influences derive from the popular music of the United States, Brazil and West Africa. His 1998 album Lagoa (Lagoon) is considered one of his best.


Boy Gé Mendès (né Gerard Mendes) est un chanteur cap-verdien né en 1952 à Dakar. Il fut membre du group Cabo Verde Show. Son style musical est le morna.

Tony Allen

Tony Oladipo Allen (n. Lagos, Nigeria, 12 de agosto de 1940) baterista y compositor nigeriano que reside y trabaja en París. Como baterista y director musical de la banda África 70 de Fela Anikulapo Kuti entre 1968 a 1979, se le considera como uno de los fundadores del género musical Afrobeat; en este contexto, Fela alguna vez señaló que: "sin Tony Allen, no existiría el Afrobeat". Adicionalmente, ha sido descrito por Brian Eno como "quizá el más grande baterista que haya vivido".

Como músico autodidacta, Allen comenzó a tocar batería a la edad de 18 años, mientras trabajaba como ingeniero para una estación de radio nigeriana; su estilo musical fue influenciado por la música que escuchaba su padre (Jùjú, un género de música tradicional ceremonial derivado del yoruba), además del jazz estadounidense, y el surgimiento del género musical highlife en Nigeria y Ghana.

Tony Oladipo Allen (born August 12, 1940 in Lagos, Nigeria) is a Nigerian drummer, composer, and songwriter who currently lives and works in Paris. He is currently writing his autobiography "Tony Allen: Master Drummer of Afrobeat" with author/musician Michael E. Veal, who has previously written a comprehensive biography of Fela Kuti.

As drummer and musical director of Fela Anikulapo Kuti's band Africa 70 from 1968 to 1979, Tony Allen was one of the primary co-founders of the genre of Afrobeat music. Fela once stated that, "without Tony Allen, there would be no Afrobeat." He has also been described by Brian Eno as "perhaps the greatest drummer who has ever lived."

Tony Allen a été l'un des pionniers de l'afrobeat avec son maître et ami Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, dont il était le batteur et directeur artistique de 1968 à 1979. Fela a déclaré que "sans Tony Allen, il n'y aurait pas d'Afrobeat". Il est aussi décrit par Brian Eno comme "peut-être le plus grand batteur qui ait jamais vécu".

Vers le milieu des années 60, les deux compères effectuent une tournée aux États-Unis. Le pays est bouleversé par le mouvement de revendications des afro-américains. Martin Luther King, Malcom X, les Black Panthers... les jeunes musiciens nigérians y font leur apprentissage politique, en grande partie grâce à leurs "sœurs". De cette prise de conscience naîtra un des courants fondamentaux de la musique africaine du xx^e siècle : l'Afrobeat. Un groove irrésistible et des textes engagés, un mélange entre rythmes traditionnels et puissance électrique, une recette infaillible dont le creuset est le Nigeria.
